Arriving in the capital Windhoek, we are met by a piece of Europe in the middle of Africa. The German style and culture - Namibia was once a colony named German South West Africa - has characterized the city: We can have a beer at "Thüringer Hof" and the half-timbered houses are lined up along the main street. If we go down to the old ports of Lüderitz or Swakopmund by the Atlantic Ocean, the German names of the street signs show us the way.

Namibia is about twice the size of Sweden, but the population is hardly two million. It is one of the driest countries of Southern Africa but the wild life is fantastic. Today this wild animals are taken care of mainly out in the private farms - game reserves - were you can take your time hunting or just looking at the animals. The fishing along the Atlantic coast is the best in Africa.
